Here are some Hispanic churches located in the U.S. that I’m keeping my eye on.
1. Vino Nuevo, El Paso, TX. (church plant out of Vino Nuevo in cuidad Juarez, MX) Lead Pastor is Chris Richards. It’s no longer a church plant cause it’s been around for a few years now, but it’s cutting edge and different than any traditional spanish speaking church I’ve seen. This church is back in my home town and they just moved into their new building about 2 years ago. I’ve visited on a couple of occasions, and was impressed with what they’re doing. Their children’s ministry is awesome!
2. Vastago Epicentro, Surprise, AZ. (recent church plant) Lead Pastor is Jesus Adrian Romero, a very well known international latin worship leader, who is currently meeting on the campus of Radiant Church in Surprise, AZ. Jesus Adrian Romero has strong ties with Vino Nuevo (Juarez, MX and Vino Nuevo, El Paso, TX) and brings the same DNA to the Hispanic communities in the West Valley of Phoenix, AZ. I haven’t had the opportunity to visit yet, but I’m sure it’s “doing church” differently than other spanish speaking churches in the area. They just had their Grand Opening on Oct 5th, 2008 and had 1000 people in attendance! Don’t you wish all church plants could have a start like that?!
3. North Point en Español, Alpharetta, GA (recently launched a spanish service Oct 19th, 2008) I’m very interested to see how this unfolds. By what their blog says, the worship is done live and in spanish, but the message is translated into spanish. Andy Stanley speaks via video. It’s great to see North Point reaching out to Hispanics around their community.
If you know of any other contemporary, cutting edge Hispanic churches that are located here in the U.S., please leave a comment or shoot me an email! I want to learn from others who are reaching out to the next generation Hispanic.
